We share almost everything we do via social media these
days. Whether you’re sharing a video of going to a Bulls game or snapping a
picture of the steak you just ordered has become common practice. The increase
in social media usage has made sharing life experiences a lot of fun. Movies,
pictures and music are all popular digital files that we all share but they all
cannot use the same data because of their size difference. Data is broken down
into bits. A bit is the smallest unit of data measured in a computer and possesses
a small value of either 0 or 1. A bit is a building block for bigger things to
come. Our next step is to look at a byte, a byte is created by assembling 8
bits together. Since computers work off binary math instead of decimal math it
is common to have unique numbers instead of the common 10, 100, 1000 method. A
kilobyte is compiled of 1,024 bytes. When it comes to actual computer storage,
we use much larger storage, still composed of bits just on a much larger scale.
The megabyte (MB), the gigabyte (GB), the terabyte (TB), the petabyte (PB), the
Exabyte (EB), the zettabyte (ZB) and last but not least the yottabyte (YB).
Each level of bits is determined by the count base of 2.
2(1)=2
2(2)=4
2(3)=8
2(20)=1,048,576
Buddy you're extremely clever and intelligent!!!
